Carbon Dusty Plasma

Carbon as a cloud of glowing grains. Solid particles pick up charge, levitate in the field and hang above the ring as golden dust that sorts itself into layers and patterns. This is dusty plasma, the same physics that gets studied in microgravity, running on a workbench; in some frames the cloud settles into visible order, in others it storms around the vessel.
